Kristi founded Families Abroad in 2023 as a way to spread kindness throughout the world. Kristi believes that through shared experiences and interactions, stereotypes and biases can be challenged, and a foundation of mutual respect and appreciation can be fostered. With her global mindset and dedication to lifelong learning, Kristi is passionate about helping families create meaningful memories and expand their horizons.
She served nearly 12 years in the U.S. Navy, as a cryptologist and as a career counselor. Following her honorable discharge from the Navy, Kristi worked at the Initiative Foundation, a regional rural community and economic development foundation.
In 2018, she established her own consulting firm, focusing on empowering nonprofits, philanthropic businesses and women entrepreneurs. In 2023, she merged her practice with a co-collaborator, forming Growth By Design, LLC. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in accounting, and she is a Journeyman Career Counselor.
She co-founded the Women's Leadership Fund, an organization aimed at empowering women leaders. She also created the "A Legacy of Generosity" podcast, which serves as a valuable resource for fundraising professionals. In her spare time, Kristi volunteers her expertise by serving on various boards, reading, going for walks, trying new restaurants, spending time with her husband, Levi and son, Alex, and of course traveling.

Levi is an outgoing person with a passion for good food and the relationships that are built around the table. He hails from a small town in northern Minnesota, where he owned and ran his family’s restaurant. He still answers to “the Pizza Man.”
He has enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places for as long as he can remember. Travel was a big part of why he joined the Military, which allowed him to see places that he never would have otherwise.
He helped found Families Abroad to give families the opportunity to see the world in a new light and experience the joys of traveling. He has been leading people for the last 11 years in various managerial positions and is able to see the big picture and manage getting all the pieces to fit together.
His days in Portugal will be filled with cooking, meal planning and empowering the rest of his staff to be successful and create amazing experiences for guests.
He and Kristi have been married 10 years, and they enjoy a busy household with their son Alex, and 5-year-old puppy, Harry.
Levi really loves to work, but when he’s not, he enjoys hunting, fishing and pretty much any other activities that get him out into nature.
